Artist's Description
3rd Place Winner in "Your Best Mixed Media Contest"
*****
Klimt entered my dreams. Always a fan of Gustav Klimt's, "The Kiss" this image came to me, inspiring me to capture the same romantic feeling using mixed media techniques and my own style of figure painting. In addition, a newspaper article titled, "Style vs. Substance" played a big part in the planning of this piece and if you notice, the print from that newspaper article resides within the painting. As an artist, one questions what makes a painting successful. Is it the subject matter of the painting, the composition, the colors used, someone's personal taste, the style of the painting, the feeling or passion of the artist while creating the piece or the desire and need of that artist to simply create? Whatever the painting says to you, the viewer, is a different answer every time. This painting is a perfect gift or choice if it has captured you in some way.
